Alabama stands out as one of the top golf travel destinations in the U.S., blending world-class courses, exceptional value, stunning natural beauty, and a mild climate perfect for year-round play. With over 215 sunny days annually and average temperatures ranging from the 50s in winter to the 80s in summer, golfers can tee off comfortably almost anytime—ideal for escaping colder climates. The state’s diverse landscapes, from Appalachian foothills to coastal marshes, deliver dramatic elevation changes, lake views, and challenging layouts that rival pricier destinations like Scotland or Arizona, but at a fraction of the cost.

At the core is the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail (RTJ Trail), the largest golf construction project ever, featuring 11 sites, 26 championship courses, and 468 holes across Alabama. Designed by the legendary Robert Trent Jones Sr., these public-access gems offer incredible variety and playability for all skill levels.

Complementing the Trail is FarmLinks at Pursell Farms in Sylacauga, a standout independent course often ranked Alabama’s #1 public-access layout by Golfweek. This Hurdzan-Fry design winds through rolling hills, forests, and quarries on a former fertilizer research farm, featuring pristine turf, creative routing, and signature holes like the par-3 17th over water (“Big Gulp”) and the dramatic closing par-5.
